Gym-Meet

Overview

During this project, my team and I (Jarell, Raine, Kathryn, Kimberly, and myself) designed and implemented an app that connects UH gym-goers with others so that they can go to the gym together. It seeks to solve the problem of students feeling intimidated of going to the gym by themselves, so this app seeks to give people support when going to the gym. It allows people to create and customize accounts, and friend other people who are registered for the app. If users wish, they can add their contact information to their profiles for other people to contact them to go to the gym together.

My Contributions

I contributed to the team by helping coordinate and run meetings, assisting with the effort estimate data tracking, writing and modifying the testing for the projects, helping with the UI such as the navbar, and creating the profile page.

Takeaways From This Project

This was my first software development project ever, so just completing it in the first place and experiencing first-hand what goes into a project was a valuable experience for me. I think I learned how much time I need to set aside for a project, as well as the value of consistency. Because when I wasn’t working on the project every day, I started to fall behind on my tasks and that decreased the quality of my work when I had to do it all at once. I also learned what the structure of a project could look like, and how to navigate that to build a working web application.
